New Car Buying

Whenever we hear police impound auctions we automatically think that they sell either police cars or cars confiscated from a criminal. While it is true that there are police cars sold at these auctions and that majority of the used cars do come from criminals, police impound auctions also contain cars that belong to old or retired staff and personnel and even other officers. Every car will be auctioned off to the highest bidder and since it is organized by a law enforcement agency, you can be sure that the entire process is legal.

How to Go about It

When you attend these police impound auctions, make sure that you know what you want to buy. Or that you have a fairly good idea of what you are looking for. You can research about the type of car you want as well as the ones they provide on the list.

You need to find out about their usual price, how much they go for, and all other ins and outs of auto auctions. If you can, it would also be helpful if you could get some information about the used car. Try finding out about its history, name of the owner, etc. When you leave for the auto auction place, make sure to get there early. You want some time to go ahead and check the vehicle you have set your eyes on. Find out what type of condition it is in. Don’t be afraid to open the hood or try out the engine as most car auctions administrators allow you to do this. Another thing to remember once you are placing a bid is that these car auctions only accept cash. Unlike most auctions where you can pay through checks, they do not accept this. Thus, you should remind yourself to bring enough cash with you in case you find a car that you want.

Where Car Auctions Are Held

Now that you have an idea of what to do when you go to these auto auctions, you only need to find them so you can attend one. You can try to contact your local law enforcement agencies and try to find out whether there is going to be a police seized car auction happening anytime soon. Most of them will be able to fill you in on when and where it will be happening or direct you to someone who can give you ample information. You can also try online auction site since they can provide you with a more concise listing.

If you are new at police impound auctions, you can try and observe first. Take in your surroundings and bid once you feel confident.

Make new discoveries and learn more handy tips about seized car auctions such as where to find such auctions near your home and how to get great bargains for your car deals.

Fish Tacos – Perfect Pairing

By Bill and Karen Garlough – August 2008

This summer, we've done our fair share of backyard grilling, including fish, chicken and beef. Being the adventurous type, Karen is always looking for variety. While sitting in the patio, our thoughts turned Mexico. One of our favorite dishes is fish tacos, which often enjoy a glass of cold Mexican beer.

Karen launched a challenge for me to find a good wine to pair with fish tacos. Taking into account all the flavors and spices, this is not an easy match. After learned the recipe is based mayonnaise and yogurt, a couple of white wines, came to mind. Although the grass, peppers and lemon flavors would do well to pair with tacos citrusey herbaceous Sauvignon Blanc New Zealand, I decided that the Spanish Albariño are the way forward.

Details on wine
While Spain has a long history and the history of wine has always been known as Sherry, champagne and red wine. She cares little white wine and the quality suffered. Today, the wine region of Rias Baixas, located in the northwest corner of Spain, it is interesting white wines. White Albariño grape is the star in this region, with a fresh style that is an ideal partner for seafood

The Rias Baixas wine region is a rural region of Spain, and better transportation routes were opened recently, has been isolated. She its own customs and language and a spirit of independence. The people of this region are renowned fishing and catching fish, both marine and offshore. Fruits Sea dominates their diet and pies are a local specialty. The pies are made with pie dough is folded and scalloped edges. Filling is usually seafood sautéed in olive oil with tomatoes, peppers and garlic. This bite-size cake filling Seafood remember the fish tacos, which are both crescent-shaped and similar stuffed. Albariño wine of your choice, it seems like a natural element natural pairing for this dish.

Food and wine
Albariño wines tend to have good acidity, with hints of honey. Even if they are Light, citrus and refreshing in nature, have a style a little creamy, which is all that matters. That's what tipped the balance for me choose more than Spanish Albariño white Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand.

Karen Recipe Notes
Fish Tacos traditionally characteristic of fried fish. This healthier version, cod steak, but the tilapia or other mild white fish will do. Corn tortillas are favorites in Mexico, but we found that the flour tortillas served better and were easier to eat. The mixture of broccoli salad is colorful, had a crisis of Nice and good nutritional value.

We start with an informal cocktail of fresh guacamole (purchased from a local Mexican restaurant) and tortilla chips, vegetable salad, beans black goat cheese, roasted corn (roasted fresh shucked an ear for about 10 minutes in the oven – in turn often) and dressed with a vinaigrette with sun dried tomatoes. He finished with slices of chilled watermelon and lemon cookies. Enjoy!

Grilled Fish Tacos Baja sauce – Serves 4
1 pounds cod fillets
12 corn flour, tortillas
1 pkg. Mann Broccoli Salad Mix (Jewel) or Cole Slaw Mix
2 Fresh Limes – cut into quarters

Baja Sauce
1 6 oz container of plain yogurt (Greek yogurt is a little thicker)
2 / 3 C Mayonnaise
3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1 Fresh jalapeno chile, chopped (about 2 tablespoons)
1 tablespoon Coffee chopped capers
½ teaspoon each dried oregano, ground cumin, dried dill
TSP ¼ – ½ tsp to tea cayenne pepper (start with ¼ teaspoon and add to taste – this stuff is hot!)

For Baja sauce in a medium bowl mix yogurt, mayonnaise and lemon juice. Add capers, jalapeno peppers and spices. Refrigerate until serving.

Prepare grill – the average temperature (350 degrees). Rinse fish, pat dry and coat lightly with olive oil or vegetable oil. Cod is very mild for the season generously with kosher or garlic salt and pepper. For best flavor on the grill, the fish in the basket of wire mesh (which can flip) or aluminum foil for easy cleanup. Broil for about 5 minutes per side or until fish.

Wrap tortillas in paper and heat the grill to indirect or in an oven at 350 degrees until hot – about 7 minutes.

To serve, place the fish on a platter and surround sound mix with coleslaw and lime wedges. Serve with tortillas and salsa Baja California. Take a tortilla, fish on the tortilla, top with salad mixture of cabbage and Baja sauce.

How do I hook up a camper to power permanently?

I bought a camper ( 2005 Prowler )and I want to stay in it for about a year. It has a standard camper plug that pulls out the side(looks like a dryer plug) I’m putting up a reg. utility pole to also be used later on by a mobile home. How do I plug in the camper to power permanently without using a temporary converter (pigtail).

is there a reason you don’t want to use the pig tail? it’ll work fine. most seasonal campers are run that way for long periods of time. it cand be hard wired into the panel by either buying a length of wire or cutting off the plug end and wiring it to a circuit breaker.
